Services for Children and their Families
Over the course of 25 years, Carole has worked successfully with a diverse group of children of all ages who have a wide range of language and communication challenges including those with autism spectrum disorders, executive functioning challenges, developmentally delayed, non-verbal / limited language skills, selective mutism, auditory / language processing challenges, ADHD, down syndrome, deaf and hearing impaired.
During the initial consultation, Carole can help you determine what service approach will work best:
1:1 Language Sessions - A customized whole child approach with motivating and innovative multi-sensory strategies, techniques and materials. We focus upon the child's interests, strengths, challenges and developmental level. This approach has been instrumental in the development and ongoing success of the child's language and learning challenges. Sessions, typically 60 minutes, are done in the privacy of your home and scheduled at optimal times for your child's participation.
Household Survival for Everyday Life - One on One (Non-verbal/ Limited language and communication skills) Is your child/young adult non-verbal? Does he / she present with limited language and communication skills? Is everyday a struggle just getting through the day? Then this program is for you!
This one on one service includes a complete in-home assessment with an information gathering session to hear ongoing concerns, challenges and needs. On the spot, you will receive customized strategies and tools specifically designed for your family and child to help decrease frustration and make life more manageable at home, school and community.
Household and Homework Survival - One on One (Verbal and High functioning). This highly personalized service includes a complete in-home assessment with an information gathering session with parents and child to discuss ongoing concerns, challenges and needs. On the spot, you will receive customized strategies and tools specifically designed for your family and child that you can easily implement to achieve success.
Social Groups / Supervised "Play Dates"- Building social success, self confidence and interacting with peers and others in a fun setting. Carole can facilitate success by helping you organize an intimate group of 2-3 children who are able to practice together in a smaller world. In creating small successful interactions, each child is able to increase self-esteem and learn the skills and behaviors necessary to carry over into school, family and other settings. Each child is individually placed so that each of their talents, challenges and needs will compliment each other in their peer groups. Groups/Play dates are generally once to twice weekly for up to 75 minutes.
Multi-Sensory Reading Programs - Carole has developed reading programs from her experiences and success in teaching deaf children to read. She customizes a tailored reading program consisting of multi-sensory materials, strategies and techniques for your child. Sessions, typically 60 minutes, are done in the privacy of your home and scheduled at optimal times for your child's participation.
Mommy and Me Baby Sign Language Classes - Studies show that sign language accelerates the development of speech and language with babies. Carole has an exciting hands-on program, in which each week you will learn new signs to help you and your baby communicate, express wants and needs, learn stories, songs and more.
